Author Topic: Regarding Naps  (Read 3188 times)

Same.  Just came back from york, which is a 2 1/2 hour car trip, slept the whole way, felt like 5 min.
I take naps every once in awhile. I feel refreshed after when I take them.
If its a long car ride I fall asleep for a few hours.

I fall asleep
wake up
fall asleep again
eat
fall asleep again
wake up for about 10 minutes
fall asleep.

You should try the caffeine patch, you can stay awake for days, with no side affects!

I only take a nap when I have a head-ache

I love napping after some chocolate chips cookies and warm milk.

i dont usually nap because i have more important things to do

it depends on the day if im sick wen i wake up i still feel sick on a good day i wont be sick and ill wake up and feel so crappy so there

I hardly ever take naps. I took one once, while we were going on vacation, and I felt sick and threw up after I woke up.

I hate naps. They throw off my internal clock. I won't remember falling asleep and I'll wake up not knowing what time it is or where I am. I usually can't remember what day or week it is. I then spend a few hours staring at clocks and calenders trying to reset myself. Plus I feel so frustrated because I feel like I wasted the entire day doing nothing. And that's the funny part. I could spend 8 hours doing absolutely nothing and be ok with it, but if I take a hour long nap, I feel like I've wasted my day.

This happens to me exactly.

So, naps.

Some people swear by them, and others hate them.

Some say that they take them during the day and wake up all refreshed, but I just wake up feeling tired, sick and woozy, and, unlike waking up after a good sleep, a shower doesn't help. Plus I think they waste time, but I collapsed into one today out of tiredness and feel terrible afterwards.

Thoughts?
Do you like them or hate them?
It's because you have an irregular sleeping pattern.

Your fault.

Sleep is an interesting thing. I'd prefer a nocturnal cycle because I find the night more interesting to be awake during than the day, unfortunately large majorities of the world disagree with me, hence the whole "everything is open during the day" thing.

I'd love to try something like the Uberman sleep strategy, where you take a half hour nap every four hours, but I've read that this can kill you mentally and deteriorate physical health.

As for naps, I almost never nap. I nap during the following circumstances:

1) When ridiculously tired
2) On vacation
3) After doing physically strenuous work for most of the day
4) After confirming that there is absolutely no better use of my time than to sleep
5) when I am waiting for something to happen in a few hours and condition four is already met.

I usually take an hour long nap after a long day at school. I feel nice and refreshed afterwards, and get a clean taste in my mouth. Then I do homework.
