Author Topic: Console exclusives are stupid  (Read 1744 times)

Why do developers make some games exclusive?
im mainly talking about xbox and ps3 exclusives, because no one wants wii exclusives.
Im not sure if devs are too lazy to slightly re-adjust the instructional text/hardware so it can be multi-platform. But all the exclusive stuff is just a way of losing extra money you could be getting from another console fan-base. what buttons do the xboxs have that the ps3 doesnt?

its just so handicapped.

The biggest example of a great game wasted on being a Wii exclusive:

The upcoming remake of NBA Jam.  Gosh darnit, these people ARE RUINING MY MEMORIES OF MY CHILDHOOD!

JOOOOOEEEE D-D-D-D-D-D-DUMAAAAARSSS!

He's ON FIRE!

NNNNNN BEEEEE AIEIEEEEE JAAMMMM-M-M-m-m-mmmm!

why does microsoft keep their games on their consoles? not including halo 3 and the computer

There are many other concerns besides controller settings to worry about.

like?
graphic settings?
im not saying you should put modern games on the wii, just on pc/another console

They are paid extra to make exclusive games.

Because Microsoft makes the consoles. Why would they want to give Sony/whatever money?

It's not drag and drop. You don't randomly decide if you want to put a game on an Xbox DVD or Blu-Ray disc. The game must be designed from the ground up for the system for the most part.

Also, not all development studios have the resources to program a full game and port it to multiple platforms.

how must it be developed from the ground up to play on a console?
they both seem the same?
explain.

Different hardware.
Different firmware methods.
Ect.

PC games are generally made to be more compatible with different kinds of hardware, so they're cool.

If a game is really good, and is exclusive to one system, chances are that people will want to buy the console, for that game.

so for multiplatformed games they build the game 2-3 times?

its contracts from Microsoft and Sony. they "buy" publisher's rights for a game so that they can hopefully get more people to buy their system.

PC hardware is all interfaced through the operating system. So if your hardware functions in Windows (or whatever) it will work with the games. This is mostly the case, there are certain issues where hardware does some wonky things to games.

PC exclusives are also made
But nooo people dont complain about that
