Don't for goodness sake go to 7.
you can't make hidden files show up.

Get owned.

Oh damn, I just remembered something that I was having a problem with when I used to have Vista. It would lock you out of your own computer and say "You need permission from the admin to do this", even though I was an admin.

It pissed me off how I couldn't put anything in C:\Program Files because of that.

Does it still do this?

I found out a few days after the deadline passed that my laptop was eligible for a free Vista -> 7 upgrade, I'm still pretty pissed.
Ew, that sucks.

Here's my opinion on the three:
XP is greater than or equal to 7 and both of them are greater than Vista.
Yes, Darkhawk, YES!!!

This is why you don't install things to Program Files.

Vista is great, people just blame it for every problem their computer has because Apple says so.

You first.  :cookieMonster:

No, they actually did a study, Windows made vista horrible so they could take XP off the market, which they did, and then when they released 7, EVERYONE would buy it because it would be a relief, like with Windows ME and Windows XP.

This is why you don't install things to Program Files.
But steam automatically installs things in C:\Program Files, so that means no more Garry's Mod addons or stuff like that D:

There's no way to fix that?

Uninstall steam,
Reinstall, when it asks where to install, put somewhere else.

WHY?
For one, it was slow, not just because of my stuffty 128mb graphics and 2 gigs of ddr2 ram,
it was just slow. Take all the god-damned viruses off your PC then. It's not just automatically slow.
Two, i had a glitch that made my internet shut off every 20 minutes, i tried reinstalling vista a couple of times, didn't help, neither did the stuffty support, It's obviously a problem with your PC then.
Three, stuffty support. You get just as much support quality as you did on XP.
Four, expensive as stuff, and you GET stuff. I'll agree, it's expensive, but it's a good OS.
Five, It was so powerhungry i couldn't run any games, Again, remove all the bloatware from your PC. I can run all my games fine on Vista, I was even able to with a Pentium 4 Processor. Not only that, but your graphics card sucks.
Six, it was so "New" That it didn't accept my Radeon 9250 Graphics card drivers, which mean't no Blockland for 6 months :/ Google is your friend in finding drivers.
Seven, Everytime i started up my computer, it took twelve minutes because it had this weird glitch where it would look like my screen was fading in by fire, and it wasn't a virus. It doesn't just do this on it's own. You did something to make it do that.
Eight, it didn't accept my antivirus, they were too old too. Antivirus 2008 isn't an actual antivirus.
Nine, It forgeted up my Tablet and i couldnt get it fixed, my tablet is still forgeted up, vista tried to "Update" a bunch of settings and destroyed em. Interesting, my tablet worked just fine on Vista.
Ten, I couldn't listen to music because WMP took forever to startup, being so powerhungry Took only 5 seconds for me. Get all the stuff off your PC, again.
Eleven, with a 128mb graphics card and 2 gigs of ddr2 ram, i STILL COULDNT RUN Wmm, which shouldnt require stuff, ITS A BUILT IN PROCESS. Get. All. The. stuff. Off. Your. PC.
Twelve, It also didn't accept my Webcam drivers, my sound drivers, my flash drive. Bullstuff. Simply put.
Need i go on? No, stop making up reasons to make Vista look bad.
XP isn't the best god-damned OS in the world.

Uninstall steam,
Reinstall, when it asks where to install, put somewhere else.
