I'm leaning toward switching to vista so much I'm about to fall over.

But there's no fix for that problem of how vista doesn't recognize you as an admin?

Get Vista. The only thing I didn't like about it was how ugly it was, but I guess it's better looking than XP. Windows 7 is beautiful though <3
And you can just change the theme if you don't like Aero, there's a bunch available on DeviantArt

Edit: And if you choose Vista, disable UAC and all that crap.

I have a modded theme that makes it even more transparent than the most transparent built-in settings.

It is transparent, it's just hard to see it since I was using a background that was dark.
