Well, im getting a new computer. So Im putting all my games, Tf2, gmod, onto a portable harddrive. I already did that. I copied the whole Steam folder from my Program Files x86. But I noticed my Call of Duty Modern Warefare 2 isnt there. I looked through the steam folder, and couldn't find it. Any ideas/help?

Did you buy it on Steam? Or is it a shortcut TO the game?

make sure you have your steamapps folder in there

Katamarii gifted it to me directly from Steam.

When you install programs, it puts stuff in your directory. You can't copy and paste the contents of a folder because the executables won't work.

Unless it's Blockland

Why don't you just redownload them on your new computer?

Can I do that? Because Kat gifted me it, I thought it was a one-time download.

would it be possible to put the installation folder in there and then run it on the new computer?

Yes, that's the point of Steam. It's a one time buy, not one time download.

So I can go back to my email they sent me, on my new computer, and download it again from there?

Just open steam client and double click on the game title.

Wait, but does this mean I have to earn all my stuff back?

Like achievments and stuff?

No, that's all saved to your account. You will lose saved games though, or least I always do. Might want to back those up.
