Author Topic: Decided On Computer Purchase  (Read 3120 times)

Ok, so I have decided to build my own comp. I recently went around some local stores and found all the parts I am looking for. Just to double check, will this run Blockland at an efficient speed at higher brick counts.

Antec Mid Tower Case
Gigabyte GA-MA 785GMT-UD2 Motherboard
Antec 750w Power Supply
ATI Radeon HD 5770
AMD Athlon II x3 435
DDR3 RAM 8Gb
Hitachi 1Tb SATA 3.5" Hard Drive
LG 23" Monitor

For a little less then a 1 grand.

8gb of RAM is handicapped.

The processer is also quite low end, get 4gb of RAM and an i5 750.

You also don't need a 750w PSU.

Drop that for a 600w and buy a better graphics card.

HIGH FIVE FOR SAME COMPUTER CASE

Well I have a laptop.
:c

I was told by an employee that 16Gb of Ram was overkill. Although I wanted to get a cheaper, but powerful graphics card. He also told me that 750w was ok if it's a self proclaimed "Gaming Computer"

:D

Anything really above 6GB is overkill unless you really have that much to spend and you do a lot of stuff.

Ok, so I move down to a 6Gb, anything else I could buy to make Blockland run more efficiently?

No no, 6GB is really the "gaming minimum" for triple channel memory that higher-end motherboards have.

The "gaming minimum" for dual channel is 4GB.

Since you chose 8GB and by looking up your motherboard you have dual channel memory slots on your motherboard, so I'd just go for 4GB.

You sure?

Also, I found this today:
Well, that was for a comparison use. My CPU is quad core 2.5Ghz (10Ghz total), 4 Gb Ram and a graphic card of 1024mb.
This was the guy that made the huge version of the Twin Towers. So I am guessing Blockland runs fine for him. Should I go with about the same specs as him?

Also I can't find any info on how big the graphics card I might get is, over 1024mb? (If that is what I am talking about?)

I loving lol'd.

?
He's loling at the fact that 2.5 multiplied by four doesn't mean a quad core is 10 GHz.
