Kanto Region

     Introduction (In other words...words)
Here's another one of those projects that I will probably never finish, but it's worth a try.

It's a recreation of the Kanto Region of the Pokemon series. It's being built from the original in Blue/Red/Yellow version, rather than the FireRed/LeafGreen version. The current build is painted using a monochrome colorset, although that is subject to change. My current thoughts are to make it the colors of the Second Generation games, Silver and Gold (and Crystal) since the architecture of the buildings didn't change much. I'm still developing some of the mechanics, but I have an idea of how to do them. I have regular Pokemon battles already down, but Trainers may be tricky. There's also the concept of the Start menu that eludes me, though stations scattered throughout the game with the same functions may do the trick. The game probably won't go too far, as building the entire region as well as incorporating the majority of the 150 (+1) Pokemon into it would be very difficult.

To answer a few potential questions:
 - Yes, that is a slight special edit of the Top Down player I'm using.
 - I have no idea what shapes some of the things are in this game, so I'm going on what I think they look like.
 - The interiors of the houses are not actually inside the physical houses.
 - Rooms are surrounded by big black cubes.
 - I have a sound pack to be used for walking in and out of buildings, activating things, etc.
 - Current plans are to make this purely one-player. Multiplayer may cause certain problems that would be hard to solve.

Sorry to Raider5800, Joltarn, and Julius Caesar for doing nearly the same thing as you, though yours will be a more modern, multiplayer, freestyle version of Pokemon, and mine is purely nostalgic. I don't mean to "steal your thunder" in any way. I saw your creation and thought this would be fun to do, since I love making models/replicas of things.

Also, can you guys see this font?

Is there a mod for a birds-eye only player?

Top Down Player. I mentioned this in my post.

Oh. I just looked at the pics.

Why grayscale?

Because it's being built from the Blue/Red/Yellow Version.

Have you ever owned a gameboy?
Edit: looks loving cool, hope you get really far on this.
Does the top down player camera always face north? Or does it rotate with the player?

Looks cool.
Nice job with the monochrome style, is there a way to force others into that style?

So Iv'e been wondering, how do you do the whole Pokémon battle? How do you replicate a Pokémon in game?

You don't, the trolls always ruin it.

I know the original gameboys were black and white but this looks depressing. Good job though. Color (or lack thereof) is my only gripe.
