Author Topic: Voyager 1  (Read 3389 times)

Going to reach interstellar space in 3 to 5 years.  It's going at 3595.157599 mph out towards another star.  It's been 33 years since it's launch, and 5 years ago it hit termination shock, leaving the bubble of solar wind, voyager 2 a few years behind.

Why do we never hear any news about voyager 1 and 2?  I never knew they were still around, much less attempting interstellar travel.

Aren't they "dead" and not transmitting information? I dunno, I guess we couldn't have figured this out if they were.

That would be awesome.

They send back information daily.

They aren't that far yet, and it probably can, it will just take forever.

I think the reason we don't hear much about them is that they're "old news", but I would expect at least an article on it in some science magazines, such as SciAm, etc.

And is interstellar space outside of the heliopause or the bow shock?

They send back information daily.
I remember reading that one of them lost contact.  I'm pretty sure it was Voyager 1, but I'm not sure if a connection was reestablished or not.

i cant believe they passed all 9-i mean 8 planets

And it only took about 20 years...

Heliopause I think.

Imagine if they could have left the cameras on, and we found some weird stuff out there :o

I saw a video about this, sounds epic! I'm gonna be a mars person when they find some amazing technology in another galaxy :)
