Author Topic: Dear Google Chrome: Can you just tell me what file type it is?!  (Read 1699 times)

So I've recently made the switch to Chrome (I don't want to hear your arguing) and I can't figure out this "Inspect Element" labyrinth of utter crap.

Where's the file type?

I just switched back to Firefox. It corrupts downloads rarely, but it is quite annoying.

I hate to be rude but that's not what I asked and therefore I really don't care.

Why would you be downloading a file that you don't know what is? (I know that didn't make too much sense.)

No, it doesn't, because I'm trying to figure out what file type a picture is.

Oh, whoops. I skimmed through OP and read Tom's post, and thought you were talking about downloading. Inspect Element shows the source, I think. The easiest way I can think of doing it would be to Save Image As and look at the little save box to see what file type it is.

Copy Image URL + Paste and look at extension?

That works, I guess.

http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?action=dlattach;attach=76267;type=avatar doesn't have an extension.

It is a sin to skip the OP  :cookieMonster:

Wutchu want.
He didn't skip it, he skimmed through it. There's a difference.

I don't know why I didn't read it better, it's not real long.

From a web development perspective the inspect element tool is one of the most comprehensive browser inspectors I've ever seen. I stopped using Firebug for Firefox ages ago because this does everything it could do, and then some!
