Author Topic: A Spot o' Poetry  (Read 2114 times)

So we had to do a little bit of poetry for Lit I decided not to goof off (my first thought was to be insightful on the fact that the only person our farts don't stink for is ourselves) but these are the three I ended up writing.

Friends

Friends are like an extension of our own thoughts. They are unpredictable and yet the most predictable people we know. Through shared disagreements, such as a difference in political opinion, they engage the mind through respectful and robust conversations but they are also our greatest ally when beliefs are shared.

Our friends know us the best. Our family merely relates to us in the sense that they share a common ancestor with us. That is not to say our family members can’t be our friends, but friends are ultimately who we choose to spend our time and share our thoughts with.

This can be an advantage and a detriment. They can give us the best advice, but their insults hurt the most; it is as if a segment of who we are chose to reject us.

Music

Music’s got a crazy jive. A beat you just can’t shake. A tune you can’t get out of your head. Music isn’t made by a computer; it’s not about making money or a name for yourself. It’s about the art; a struggle to get in tune with sounds of life around you.

The melody of your thoughts, the rhythm of your ever ticking heart is your body’s music. The music of the mind and the soul comes from our feelings and experiences; our emotions and the nature of our being.

Although we seem to have lost this; music a long time ago became noise that came out of the radio that made big corporations money. The artists were not so much artists as they were businessman. As our music got shallower and less in tune with our lives, we got shallower and less in tune with each other.

People on the Street

It is a curious thing to see someone walking down the street. Other than the appearance of that person, we have nothing to base an opinion on of this person. They could be a serial killer, they could be a philanthropist. They could be on their way to rob a bank, or to volunteer their time for a community service.

Odder still is to think of this persons’ entire life. They had a mother and father, each with their own life story. They probably went to school, maybe they got beat up as a kid. Maybe they really liked math but decided to pursue a creative career. Maybe they dropped out of school to live a bohemian lifestyle.

They have their own life story, their own thoughts and opinions, circle of friends. Enemies. They have their own dreams and aspirations. They are intricately linked into the spider web of society and you know nothing about them besides what they look like.

However the most curios thing of all is that they know just as little about you.

Music

Music can make anyone feel so romantic, and much like romance, is irritating too.

I like your little poems, if you can really call them that. To me, they seem more like a philosophical.. er.. "writing"

But yeah, very unique and very interesting to read <3

Meh. I'm not creative enough to rhyme  :cookieMonster:. I actually don't really like writing poems or poetry in general for that matter.

I don't blame you, I dislike writing poetry as well. Rhyming is stupid, because it simply limits your thoughts and how you express them. :\

I Hate Poetry.
as a child I was forced to read these repetitive ass poems about meaningless crap. and i still do for a school assignment.

Poetry is for gay people and fat girls with nothing to give to socsitity.

Lyrics in music are for gay people and fat girls with nothing to give to society.
Art is for gay people and fat girls with nothing to give to society.
Expression of thoughts and emotions through word is for gay people and fat girls with nothing to give to society.

See how stupid that sounds? Grow up.

You're a friend.

Seriously, gtfo.

It's painful how stupid and ignorant you are (also what's a socsitity?)

Also as I stated before, this was required for a class but I was mildly satisfied with the result so I posted it here.

hahahahah tell that to modern artists.  :cookieMonster:

Haha you're right.
Music IS made by a computer. Making a name for yourself is the artist's problem, not the music's.

derp

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Whoda smells like dog poop
And so do you!!

Haha you're right.

Wow, you're an idiot.

Are you really saying that to be a good artist the musician has to sell themselves to the public rather than write good music?

It's the
the artist's problem
that they don't put the effort in to make a name for themselves, as it is
the artist's problem
for not taking the time to
write good music.
