Does anyone know why me and my mother had this weird exprience when i was little

I was 4 5 or 6 i had a matress in the living room i slept in the living room dunno why and my mom slept in a empty room with a bed. I was sleeping then i think i woke up in my sleep but couldn't open my eyes and it was pitch black then i heard cats meowing all over for like 5 or 10 seconds then it stopped. after that i felt my bed shaking then it stopped i finally woke up somehow and got up to tell my mom and she said she felt someone shake her bed too it was scary
