To make addons, you need a modeling program like Blender of Milkshape. Then you can use notepad or something to script the model to do stuff. END.
An add-on does not necessarily need a model.

It's called TextEdit for a mac. Scripting in general isn't something you really learn overnight, so if you want to be successful with add-ons, be patient and do not release random add-ons.

Firstly, If you're asking this question you wont be able to make add-ons. Secondly, you have a mac,(lol) I' pretty sure you cant do much with it. Lastly, repeating your original question doesn't help you.

Trust me, no. Most to all of 3D modeling softwares were made for PC, so the Mac translations are terrible.

Well, programs such as Blender work just fine, and can do what most modeling programs can do.

Dude, here's how, I made a simple tool to make add-ons.
open up blockland, and press alt and then F4. You choose your type of add-on, and you choose the model you want.
