What should I turn on/off to increase speed, and reduce lag on a server?

The main problems are probably VSync, Physics and Emitters. If you want a HUGE improvement, lower you view distance.

Turn on as many torrents / downloads as you can. The way this works is your internet provider is forced to allow faster internet speeds to your computer or else it'll stop up all of the other requests behind yours. Think of it this way; the internet is a series of tubes. The main tube has a bunch of little tubes, one of which go to your house. If it gets clogged, it'll back up into the main tube. So they have to widen your tube so it doesn't clog up everything behind it!
