Author Topic: Apparently some ATC think it's cute to let their kids direct air traffic  (Read 2271 times)

I read about this, they're just overreacting. The kids were saying exactly what the parents told them to.

But it was at a busy airport (JFK) at a busy time of day (around 4:00). If they had made one mistake, it could have meant the death of upwards of 200-400 people.

lol
they gonna take away our winter break

If they made "one mistake" their parent would have corrected it pretty quickly. I don't think planes will accept instructions like "fly plane into ground".

The media is predictably trying to spin this so people think it was a case of some guy leaving the entire ATC tower in charge of a kid while he went for a coffee.

when i was a kid, my dad let me steer the car while he accelerated and braked.
if i turn onto the path of a house, he coulve easily stopped the car.
its pretty much the same scenario

That's the media for you.

Although there once was a case where a pilot let his kid fly while the plane was on auto pilot. The father was right next to him. The kid pressed something wrong. And the whole plane crashed, because the pilot couldn't correct the problem in time.

When i was a kid i got to shoot a gun  :cookieMonster:

My uncle who had a license was there though......

it was a machine gun :D

I suggest a large plane, because the small recon-like planes give huge cases of the butterflies.

i has a question, but i dont want to ask it because its pretty offensive.

I love flying on planes

I do too, but I hate it when you hit an air pocket, or hit turbulence. Its actually the same thing, just a rapid altitude loss. I hate the feeling when it starts to free fall.
That was the best roller coaster you've ever been on.
