I'm not so hot as modeling, so I think me and many other people could benefit from this.

Should I make a similar topic for Milkshape?

No milkshape

•Edit mode is your best friend
•Right click and hold down, go to add, then an armutre. Thats a bone,
•To name a bone, go into edit mode, have the bone selected, go to your tool bar, and find armutre, click, arm. propertys, then name: delete bone1 and put what you want, good luck.

Be sure to use extrude and scale. It makes your model look a lot better even though you only change one thing.

Instead of using modifiers, go into edit mode and hit W. In the W menu, select bevel. It makes it look a lot better. Do not bevel super complex parts and be sure to clean up after beveling.

Every couple of minutes, change the view type to textured. Then add a hemi lamp. See those clear spots? Go into edit mode, and face select. Select them and hit ctrl f to reverse them.

Do not scale in object mode. If you do, add a new cube. Select any part of your model, in object mode, and then select the cube and hit ctrl J. Then in edit mode, delete the cube. Add another cube and repeat using another part of your model. This fixes lighting issues caused by object mode scaling. If you have to scale, use the exporter's scale.

This is going well. I really needed that face reverse function, thanks Heedicalking

I thout W,0 did that.

Is face reversing and face flipping different things?

Bump.

Download a good model that is a high detail version of what you want to make. Trace over it with a low detail model.

Another bump. This is a good idea for people like me, and everyone should know this stuff

Heed's tips are useful, thanks.

This is great.

This came in handy at parts for me.

Press f when selecting 3 or 4 vertices to creat a face.

Oh, okay, so when you do it, it's called Model Sketching, but when I do it, it's model stealing?

Gay.

Your "Friends" are extruding Key G and S for resizing and R for rotating

G = Grab
E = Extrude
R = Rotate
S = Size
F = Fill
X = Delete

Because model sketching shows loveual attraction to model stealing...
Except your pelican isn't any lower poly than the sketchup warehouse one.
