Except your pelican isn't any lower poly than the sketchup warehouse one.

I did not use the model from Google Warehouse. I found it by Googling "Pelican .3ds". A lot of time and work went into that model. It started with 14,000+ faces.

I know you use Milkshape but I think you will become very fond of it. Its great and whether you end up liking one better than the other, Blender isn't just modeling.

I heard milkshape select all the faces behind the one you are trying to select, as well as does not allow selection in 3d perspective (only allows selection in side, top, front, etc)

You can toggle selecting back faces.

And it has 4 views by default.
Front Top and Left
And a 3D one you can rotate in, but not model in.

No it doesnt spam(too much) if you set its level above 1... Though yea, when modeling things for blockland its not recommended. Extrude IS and will REMAIN your best friend :)

It depends if you use subsurf modifier or the subsurf edit mode.

This could be helpful to beginners, so

When you are all done with your model always press w> delete doubles and alt+j to delete unneeded vertices's and faces.

I've cut down up to like 50 vertices's just from mistakes I didn't notice.
