I was in band practice today at my school. One of the mics gained feedback, it was really loud and scared the living stuff out of us. I instinctively yelled out "Jesus Christ!" out of being startled. Then some kid busted in and told me "not to use the lord's name in vain". I brushed it off. But come on. I am slightly pissed, I don't see why what I said should be offensive. I ended up apologizing, but I honestly don't think it was necessary to do so. Discuss.

Insulting a loveuality =/= Using a name in vain

And if you use your logic, you could say Christians should respect an Atheists belief that Jesus Christ isn't an important name, so you should be able to use it in vain freely.
