Even so, if your not just making this up, do the essay and don't copy and paste from Google. You'll learn more if you actually do some yourself as opposed to copying other people's works. And I severely doubt one assignment can't determine "75% of the Social studies grade" when its disciplinary.

schools threaten that they can fail you for all sorts of things, but they are usually full of it.
getting a deploma is the easiest loving thing ever. you dont even need to go to school for one.

I love when I tell teachers off, especially when they're wrong. I successfully beat down a teacher for trying to give me detention because apparently I was being "Insubordinate" for asking why I was getting a detention. Apparently you can't have freedom of speech in my school.

you should write it about how the only person who's feelings were affected by you being late was the principal, and how its a personality disorder. and he should grow up, and get back to his very important job of picking the theme of the next dance.

Have your parents call the school office and request a meeting. Do this.

You can also try calling the school district this weekend and complain. Tell them this:
"Hello. My teacher gave me an assignment. It is very vague and she says it is worth 75% of my grade. I did not know about the assignment until she gave me a handwritten note today and she did not give me any contact information. She said it's due Monday. I am very concerned about my grade. Since it is worth a full 3/4 of my grade I think I should at least be able to more information about the assignment."

Better yet, get a parent to make the call.

Do anything you can to annoy the school district. Show them who's boss because you pay their salaries.

Showing up to class late isn't good, and if you're doing it regularly and you had warnings about it you totally deserve detention and an essay and I would kick your ass if I was your teacher, but making it count for 75% of your grade is absolutely unacceptable.

Chances are once your parents get involved then the teacher will back down. You will probably still have to write the essay though, so get writing and stop reading the forums already.

Holy, he said he was 2 seconds late but it magically turned into 10 minutes!
Also, at my school, the teachers are cool. My science teacher is a pyro who likes gory cartoons and video games, he usually plays bloody batman, while burning stuff, and letting us play his 360.
Also, at my school they don't really care if your late as long as you don't disrupt the class, but 4 lates and one detention! OMG.
I was late 3 times in one of my classes thats in the whole other wing of my school, and i am always late, so i have a friend distract the teacher with random questions while i sneak in :D

Look at that. Copy something and change a few words and you are still screwed. You basically need to rewrite the entire entry from scratch and at that point you might as well just cite it and and do it legitimately.

It's better to wait than be late.

If there was some circumstance that prevented you from arriving to class on time, that may be excuseable, but most school students are late because they were doing something like talking to a friend, cell phone, or getting food which all are inexcusable. Since you never specified why you cut it so close, I can assume it's the latter inexcusable things that you were doing. So just take it with some salt and grow some balls and write the paper, not like they cane you or anything.

Same, i find kids at my school with around 6 wpm because they can't type for stuff while i can blaze through about anything in a couple of minutes.
