I am currently working on my first map, and i need to know if there is a way to make the building grid the right height so you can build on a platform. I Appreciate any help.

Yes. There are some maps which do that.

Make sure all vertices in the interior are snapped to 0.5 on the x and y axes and 0.2 on the z axis, then make sure the interior placement is also snapped like that.
