You get used to them pretty quick. I've had mine for about two years and I'm pretty close to getting them off.
I've had mine for two months. Mine are the ghetto full metal, no color. I also have these stupid blue stud things in the back of my mouth because I would bite down on the brackets themselves. Not to mention I got elbowed in the face and the little string broke. Not the metal wire, one of the small strings above/below the wire.
