Author Topic: Just saying hi  (Read 8136 times)

Hello all.

I've been on a few forums before and this one seems nice, although I have seen a few people, such as Rotondo, say things along the lines of, "Try to avoid these forums." I personally don't see why, people seem nice enough here, but I suppose I'll just have to wait and see.

Are there any specific things I should know, such as people to avoid, things not to do, or the like? I'd appreciate if you could advise me so that I know such things for future reference.

Thank you, and I hope to enjoy my stay here.

Yes. People are going to try and give you advice in this thread now.

Ignore all of it. All you have to do is follow the rules really.

Have fun!

But didn't you just give me advice? :cookieMonster:

On a serious note, why should I ignore it all?

Hey, I have some advice you should follow:

Press Alt-f4, delete System32, unplug your computer, click on every URL in every spam email, put the recycle bin in the recycle bin, end the task "task manager", divide by zero, drop a toaster in a bathtub filled with water, put a fork in an outlet, and then lose The Game. PERMANENTLY

Every time we get an introductory thread everyone feels a need to put their two cents in and after a few days it's swelled up to a couple of pages of random advice. I think it scares people away.

It'd be nice if people could just say hello for a change.

The Game.

Agh, I haven't lost the game in over two months. :(

Oh I see. That's too bad.

I think Badspot should do a routine IP check on every person who creates a "Hi there" thread  :cookieMonster:

wedge doesn't count

he's borderline admin

One forum I was previously a member of had someone that did that. It actually worked.

Apologies for the double post, however I was just looking at a topic I posted in on the Drama board and noticed my "Modify" button was missing. Is there a reason for this or was it just an error with the page loading? I do believe I neglected to click Reload, so it could just be me.

Hello there, hope you're not an alternate account. We've been getting a lot of those lately.

Mod*

Which reminds me, Wedge should really be one.

You cannot modify posts in Drama or Help, and topics cannot be locked in Drama.

Wedge is definitely the stuff. He'd be a really good Mod.

I don't think I'm an alternate...

Ah, interesting. May I inquire why, other than the obvious reason(s)?

Well, have you been here before on another account?

Ah, interesting. May I inquire why, other than the obvious reason(s)?

I think Help has always been that way, and I don't quite know why.

Drama, on the other hand, is the way it is now because of two people:

Kalphiter made a topic about the Plate map, and when it backfired on him, he locked it. He then made another topic about Plate, and locked it again when it backfired. This was really just the last straw, as similar things were always happening and people would make "Re: Topic" topics everywhere. It turned out to be a change for the better though, at least for people who don't post backfiring topics.

Another person, Phoenix...something, made a topic about...something, and when it backfired on him, he edited every single post he made in that topic (which ended up being rather long) to "CLEARED". He's changed his name to something else and I can't remember who he is now.

Well, have you been here before on another account?

No, I was just being sarcastic, and thank you for the other information.
