Author Topic: Happy St. Patrick's Day. Or as we call it, "St Paddy's day"  (Read 3274 times)

As an Irishdude I feel I should make the main thread ahead of the actual day. I dunno why

That day where you get piss drunk, fall asleep and wake up next to your mom
That day where the Irish parade around the place
That day where people wear green
That day that made the Irish awesome
That day where people search for a Pot o' Gold

I know it's a day about a saint, but I see it from being a dude that made Irish great and not from the religion perspective

Discuss St "Paddy's" day and the awesomeness of it

unexpected tf2 update

Wooo...?

It allways made me wonder why St. Patricks Day is the most celebrated.
I understand that it's got a lot to do with Irish Imigrants who settled in America, and so many of them did it that it's spread around and become a big thing, but I don't know why other St. Day's aren't celebrated as much by the people whom the Saint is the Patron Saint of, if that makes sense...

Like, St. Patricks day is widely celebrated in Ireland, and America.
However, St. George's day isn't a big thing in England, or other countries with large numbers of Citizens of English descent.
St. David's day isn't as big to the Welsh as St. Patricks day is to the Irish.
Nor is St. Andrews day to the Scottish.
As far as I've been able to tell. I haven't seen any real celebration much more than an acknowledgement that it's that specific day, living in both English countryside and City.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't know why St. Patrick's day is so greatly picked up. Heck, even people who aren't even Irish take part. Begging your Irish pardon though, Muzzles. o:

Yay, the one day where its okay to get drunk!

inb4QuotingMyProfileAge because apparantly I can't make a joke about something if it doesn't technically work with my age.
