Author Topic: My Pipe Maze  (Read 2647 times)

Hello everyone, kinda new around here, but I started playing Blockland at about... V11, maybe V10- my memory isn't that great. Mostly played TDMs or challenges and I've also lurked on the forums for awhile as a guest.

Not sure if this has already been done or not, but I finished a mario inspired pipe maze which I'm fairly proud of, so I decided to register and post it up to see what other people thought of it; I'm also gonna use this as an app for Krystal's clan and hope to get in the general or building branch.

Before I actually post the pictures, I'd like to say it's mostly built with the 1x8 upside down arches + their right side up counterpart and alot of plates ranging from 8x8, 8x16, and down to 4x8. I used a 48x48 base plate for the main room if I remember correctly and there are 8 pipes to choose from. I'd also like to mention this is V1 of this maze, I plan on working on more pipe mazes like this in the future. Well, you're probably tired of my rambling, so here are the pictures.

Overly used I know, but who would want to eat old cheese thats been laying around?

Is this the cake?

Two cakes? And kinda cool how I managed to catch the rainbow shifting to green at just the right moment

This pic shows some of the paths inside the maze, not much to say.

This one displays more of the possible paths you can take to try and confuse you.

Do these junctures ever end?

You may have noticed that bits of the maze are bit... off like this, or maybe it's just me.

I actually forgot to fix this when I went to take the photo, but I went back and fixed it which makes this pic useless now.

Its interesting, can use work though.

Meh, trans the ceiling and take a sky shot. I don't think people would bother cheating. :cookieMonster:

Indeed, like I said this is only V1. I don't usually build anything (odd right?) but I think I'm atleast "decent."

Eh, I was thinking of a sky shot, but there is no single ceiling other then the one over the main room. It's mostly just tunnels using the 1x8 arches, the only time a "ceiling" comes up is at a juncture...

Sorry, but what section are you applying for? I don't see it anywhere in your post.
This might be a bit TOO simple for the clan, it's not my decision.

-snips-

That help?

There is no "Building" branch. There is Structure, but I doubt this will get you into it.

It's good.
But I don't think it will be good enough.

Sorry.

Ah, knew it was either building or structure.

Sorry.

Probably not but it was still fun to build ^^

Anyone have any ideas and or tips on how to improve this idea in future versions? I was thinking of making seperate sections lead to different themed areas; Like, blue pipes would lead under water and use the oxygene mod- stuff like that.

Inside one of the junctions it looks like a mirror.

This, plus have looping sections, using Setplayertransform events.

You should also, if possible, have about 2/3 levels with increasing difficulty.
Once you reach the end of the first level (The cake in this case) it should teleport you across to a new section of maze, which is larger, has more tunnels, and has more Dead-ends/looping sections and circles.
Each of the levels could have their own theme to them, as well.
And, if it's Mario inspired, I guess you could pick themes from it. Say, having like Bowsers Mansion, which would be grey with Lava Traps and things, as well as being darker and gloomy, if you use a nice Light-Pack.

For being simple, it's a great idea. If you were to just give it a bit more variety, and some more planning to it, I think it would prove to be really, really nice. As well as fun and a bit tricky here and there.
It would be just soo easy to have Easter Eggs in it, like secret rooms, or Traps that don't kill you, but rather say, teleport you, or lead to a new, mini-section of Maze, which can lead to bonus stuff/easter eggs.

Anyways, I like it, it has a lot of potential. I wish you luck with Apping.

I feel like I'm at Chuckie Cheeses :)

I think you've got something very good going here, and I'm glad that you're not stopping now.

Those could work out nicely and ironically, the original version was being built on a 64x64 baseplate and had ALOT more pipes to choose from. Definately gonna give those a try and see what I can come up with ^^

Pipe maze DM.

I also actually thought that would be an awesome idea while I was building xD
