Author Topic: New Graphics card, Problems  (Read 1640 times)

So I got a new card finally, an upgrade from integrated. This. It's a good card, but it was pretty big. I needed to untie some wires and rearrange them, as well as take a modem out.

So I have a few problems.
Prob 1: Sometimes at random, my game window will minimize. This can be annoying :c
Prob 2: Fallout 3 doesn't work
Prob 3: Internet is slower (the modem in the computer i took out wasn't being use, but could it still have affected it?)

Another thing thats probably not it, but could be possible: I had to use scissors to cut a plastic band. Wires got severed maybe?

I hope you grounded yourself before you put the card in and touched all the parts.

Your mobo had a PCI express x16 slot, right?

Yes I grounded myself, and yes i have pci-e x16

Did you put your graphics card in there?

Yeah? Where else would I put it?

You bought a card that won't likely work well with PCI express x16.

It works fine. It works on TF2, and it works on most games. I'm only having the 2 problems. Did you even click the link? It says it's specifically for pci-e x16 2.0 slots, which happens to be the one i have. So...what?

I did. Sorry for my mistake, I've thought that you said that you inserted in your PCI-e x16 slot, not the pci-e 2.0 x16 slot.

oh, i didnt think that was of any importance :P

Bump. It's getting really annoying how every 5 minutes my game minimizes. How can I stop it?

Yeah fallout 3 isnt much of a problem, seeing as i uninstalled it.

PCI-E and PCI-E2.0 are backwards compatible anyway.

Update your drivers.

Whats your power supply?

its brand new, and would drivers really make it close sometimes?

Whats your power supply?
My supply is 220, the card says 400 is needed. I thought this might be it too, BUT, many people on newegg reviews 5 stars because the card worked perfectly in their hp pavillion slimline (which is what i have)

NO. That will not do!
