Author Topic: My Computer Is Broken Due to Unplugging. (Software.)  (Read 1677 times)

It corupted c:/windows/system32/system/config (or something like that.)

Now I'm reinstalling windows XP.

P.s, I'm using my laptop.

Use my pain to learn, don't unplug the computer.  Unless it's last resort.

WAAIT WAIT!

You deleted system 32?

It had the desktop on and the icons are loading.
That insult was uncalled for.

insert cd>repair windows

insert cd>repair windows
Why exactly does a file get corrupt while booting, anyway?
Is it anything to do with the hard drive writing/reading while it loses power?

Yes. When your computer boots it reads all your settings and stuff from the hard drive. Shouldn't write but sometimes in some cases it might. That's why you don't UNPLUG IT WHILE BOOTING.

It is kind of called for btw.

Same thing.

Happened to my brother a lot of times.

Is the risk lowered using a powerstrip?
