If we're going to speak literally and sacrifice our entire metaphoric/personified libraries, I should point out that the atmosphere is not an object and you did not mention who/what couldn't kill it.

When they made the first atomic bomb, they were afraid it would burn up the earths atmosphere.

They would fire theirs at us, in return knowing we would just be completely decimated as a country, our (USA) country would go into a DEFCON status, launch every ICBM/ thermonuclear weapon we have at the opposing country. Since they know they are gone, they launch all of theirs. The other countries do the same for the fun of it. Now Earth is blown up 10x over, going into a blackout, everything dies. Ice age years later, and the atmosphere everywhere is obviously toxic. Have fun!

Nuclear war becomes viable when we have colonized multiple planets and the loss of one is more like burning a town to the ground and sowing the surrounding area with salt/whateveritis so crops wont grow rather than the destruction of our world.

the US now has so many anti missile defenses, it is pretty much impossible to directly hit the states. even if every nuke on earth was on its way.
we can blow up a missile before it even leaves it's bay.

But what if one of our anti missile mechanisms blows up the Tsar bomb if its launched at us? Wouldn't the radiation just fall down to the ground?

Good thing though, Canada and UK hate us more than other countries because our Pollution also goes into Canada and UK
