Server Connection

Whenever I connect to my brother's server, the game always shuts off and it will never let me spawn.  Can someone help me and tell me how to fix it?

How does the game "shut off" ?
Is there an error message?
Does the game just close?
Does your computer turn off?

Is your brother's server in the "LAN" section?
Are you using demo?
Are you using the same key as him?
Can you join other servers?
