Author Topic: V15 - Will it fix my hosting issue?  (Read 814 times)

Apparently, V15 fixes some problems with hosting. Is this true? If it is, yay. My hosting stopped working some time in february and I couldn't fix it.

It will give you the option to disable UPnP which would allow you to configure your server using port forwarding as before.

Even more servers? Yay!

If you used the old port forwarding way would it be any faster or are they pretty much exactly the same?

Yey
I'll be able to host non-dedicated servers again.

You can just disable it on your router page

Meh. Too lazy. Dedis work. I rarely need to host non-dedi.

Upnp forwards ports for you, you will notice no speed changes if you forward them yourself. On certain routers you may be able to fix your ping showing up as --- even when your server works though.

My server doesn't work no matter what on this new computer, even though I port forwarded the router for BL and it worked on my old computer.

My servers get the --- ping and I am annoyed that my dad wont let me foreward ports because it's not safe.  He looked at the exzmples online for shooter-games' servers, which tend to be easily hacked.  Please, some expert convince him otherwise.

And doesn't the Torque game engine sort of pad against hacking?

I would try to find the post Badspot did about port forwarding, but I can't at the moment. He should post though.
