Computer slowdown

Well, this is really weird.

I recently got a new quad-core processor, and video games work great.
But for some reason when I use normal programs like opera,winamp or messenger my computer seems slower then it was when I had my single core chip.

What should I do?, is this normal?

Look at what processes are running in windows task manager and google them if you don't like the look of them. Decide if you have an adware or spyware virus. If you don't, I can't help you.

defrag, and get rid of the processes anyway, my old computer processes didnt peak, but it was slow as forget.
