Author Topic: Port Forward with Linksys WRT160N  (Read 7155 times)

Does anyone have a Linksys WRT160N Router? I used to be able to port forward and host without UPnP but with this new router Port Forwarding is confusing. There are two Port Forwarding tabs and neither seem to work. Do I also need to disable SPI Firewall and Filter Anonymous Internet Requests? I also read somewhere that I need to set up a DHCP reservation to Port Forward for this router, so does anyone have this router and can host correctly with it please help me with Port Forwarding on this?

v15 has option to enable/disable UPnP

That isn't my problem though. I am trying to host again without UPnP but Port Forwarding on a WRT160N Router is complicated.

Used it, still does not work. And it doesn't specify which port forward tab I use. Do I have to do anything with my routers firewall? Or reserve a DHCP server? I am trying to host with my laptop if that provides any helpful information.

DHCP reservation shouldn't really be a problem; only if you were going over your max amount of dynamic IP clients.

If you are saying the two different tabs are "Single Port Forwarding" or "Port Range Forwarding"... it does explain in the tutorial.

However; Ill give a quick runthrough...
Single Port Forwarding
App Name : Blockland
External Port : 28000
Internal Port : 28000
Protocol: Both
To IP Address : Your internal IP - Can be found by going Start > Command Prompt> IPConfig > IPV4 is your address.
Enabled : [Tick]

Save settings.

Do I have to disable my SPI firewall and un-tick "Filter Anonymous Internet Requests"?

Bump to first page.

I used those exact settings and everything, disabled UPnP so it would use my forwarded ports and my ping still shows up as --- and people cannot join it.

Ok, well I found out that Port Forwarding will not work for some people since in v14 you have to use UPnP and this will be optional in v15. Well now I have a problem with my UPnP, when someone joins...That's it. Only one person can join then others are not able to get in anymore even thouhg it is not full. It just keeps spamming Punch Packet for them.

Don't have port forwarding and UPnP enabled, also port forwarding if done correctly works in v14, I believe just the ping displays wrong or something.

You can't have a firewall on. Duh.

Ok, new problem. I can host with forwarded ports. But after one person joins, no more people can join. When there is only 2/x players and x > 2.

My router's firewall doesn't seem to interfere with blockland, and my computer's firewall just has an exception set up for blockland... You can have firewalls on.
