Author Topic: Fake Security Alert  (Read 2328 times)

It said "Windows Defender has detected a spyware attack!
Windows Defender can use a free scan to detect spyware!"

Then redirected me to a fake scan site.

Is this a random security breach or a rogue takeover?

I'm scanning with a REAL anti virus right now!

I know what your saying.  But what IS this?  A random security breach or a actual Trojan invading my interwebs?

Google it.  That's how I found out what Antivirus XP 2010 was/how to get rid of it.

Uh oh... I think I've had this one before...

Does it keep showing you messages continuously?

No.
This is the first time.

Ok, it might be this:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-internet-security-2010

Does that help?
It says if I play a audio file it'll have a pop-up.

And I didn't have it.

What2do.

It's obviously a fake scanner. Comes from popups or ads.

As soon as I saw "can use a free scan" I knew it was fake, considering Windows Defender comes with your computer and is obviously free

People need to pay more attention

Congrats. You got scamware.
Good luck getting rid of it.

What the forget?

This guy didn't download anything, pay more attention to the sentence. He just said that he got redirected to a site that made a fake scan. Nothing else happened.

He didn't specify whether it was a security alert in the tray, or on a webpage.

ALWAYS CLICK THE X AT THE TOP RIGHT.
Do not say no I do not want a scan.
