Author Topic: New computer  (Read 5172 times)

With my birthday just finishing I need something to spend my money on.

I've been planning this build for sometime and now that I have enough I might as well pursue it. I'm reusing some of my old components but it's mostly new.

Onward!

That's about it. Input and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Your second link is italic instead of underlined. :P

You have the same PSU as me, except 600w.

I like that PSU. I haven't used it yet but its solid and comes with all the cords you could possibly need. The individual cords within each cord also all their own little mesh sleeve; it's pretty cool.

I'm reusing my 9800 till' I get more moneys

Hopefully I'll be able to buy something better. I was thinking a GTX 285 and my 9800 used as a physx card.

I feel like that might bottleneck your beefy processor in games. Never mind, I was thinking 9600.

:(

The 9800 is actually a decent card. I could run them in SLi if I bought a new heatsink for my other one. It's comparable to the GTS 250.

Well anything is comparable to anything.

Dog stuff is comparable to fine red wine.

Not to say your card is bad.

This. My 9800m still does really well performance-wise. It runs Crysis at at least high settings.

Oooh I'm pumped. R.O. said it was comparable to the GTS 250 and I have a GTX 260 coming on Saturday. Hooray.

9800's in SLi are about the same as a 280. I'll probably just buy some after-market heatsinks so I can get them working again. If I do buy those heatsinks I'll probably end up overclocking them too.

EDIT: I would probably get two of these. Not from Newegg though.

EDIT EDIT: I might just save up for a GTX 470.

After an epiphany I have realised that this case can't fit large video cards.

I'm dropping it for the HAF 922.

a 9800GX2 is the dual core video card from that series and its still top of the line. for like 150 bucks new on ebay
its essentially the same thing as owning two 9800GTX's

MMmff...

I might consider that. $150 is damn good deal.

I read that it has performance similar to the higher end GTX cards.
