I didn't say it was totally incompatible, I'm just saying that Intel chips work better with them and won't bottleneck them as much.  Heck, if I ran an AMD chip on a 400 series Nvidia card it wouldn't give me anywhere near the performance that an Intel chip would.  So, I'm not saying they are incompatible, they just won't bottleneck as much, as in, they work well with new graphics cards, hence, "intel chips are more compatible".

Duckmeister is handicapped. I, myself have an 955 and he does not need an i7. My brother has an 940 and an HD5770 and there is not any bottlenecking whatsoever.

The general only reason that i7's are priced so high is hyper-threading. An ability that a low budget gamer would never use.

high budget gamers rarely use it either, it's of no use for gamers. If you render movies and such it's good to have however.

That's why I chose the i5 750. I wasn't willing to spend the extra $90 (soon to be $200 with an X58 board and a triple channel kit) on something that I didn't need.

Oh come on, Sirrus gives you a compliment, and you still throw insults at me?  You spent all of your good will on saying he wasn't a moron?  Why can't I get anything?  Not even a "you're not totally a moron, only a half-moron"?  Darn, if I cared at all, I think my feelings would be hurt by now.

All of the really, really ironic "you're just a cigarette who repeats what he learned in sunday school" insults were fine, but moron?  That crosses the line.  Or at least it would, if I cared.

And about the bottlenecking thing, you guys are all being morons.  Using an AMD chip will prevent new games from even running at all!  Older games like Quake 1 will drop down to 20 FPS!  I was just being too kind to not hurt anyone's feelings about the "slightly incompatible" thing, but this is really serious!  All of you people who have AMD chips are just imagining their games are running well because they can't believe they spent two hundred bucks on something that basically shuts down their GPU whenever they try to run something!

Yeah!  Stickin' it to the man!  Them AMD CPU's are doctored by the government to use your non-existent webcams to catch you whenever you think something anti-government.
