I know this, but the GTX 295 was equal to a 5870 when the 5870 were released, as far as I remember.
And the 295 is of last generation.

How is an HD 5870 equal to a GTX 295?

How is an HD 5870 equal to a GTX 295?
in performance, I believe they were about equal, of course not bang per buck, power consumption, heat or anything else, but I believe they were pretty damn close in perfomance.

Ok, FYI I just ordered the thing in the original post. I even used a 10% discount which made it nice and cheap.

Thanks for everyone's help.

The 5870 is a lot more powerful than the 295.

2 GTX285s are about as powerful as a 5870.

YYYYYYYYYYYYES!

(It's best if you imagine that in a Marv Albert voice)

please, brother.
I don't like having to throw my charts out there.
Then again I haven't looked at any charts since the cards we're just released.

The 295 is worse than the 5870 for most things on that chart...

My one Prof. and I were talking about PCs a few weeks back. I was telling him about my custom built desktop, how nice it is, how much it cost, etc. He told me that if you know when the end of a term for Dell comes, you can get some of the best deals for prebuilt systems.

Basically, Dell supposedly has four terms year round (I believe the start of a term is when they release new systems that are higher priced with newer technology), and at the end of the term they start selling the old setups, only cheaper. What makes these deals even better is that these machines are built for you upon the time of order. All the parts are brand new, they haven't been sitting in storage for months. The PCs are guarenteed to work with all the parts in them and testing is done before they are shipped off to you. Plus you probably get a decent warranty as well.

These machines need to be ordered directly from Dell, since any Dell you buy at a store was probably sitting in storage.

what?

Man, contrary to all of the fails-in-name-only going on in this thread, this right here is an actual fail.

28-33

Yeah no, 28 is the 5870 and 33 is the 295.
Unless I can't count either now.

How exactly is that a fail, I was telling him that the performance, not including any DX11 or tessellation or anything else like that.
