So instead of actually seeing anything, your screen will just be a control panel with 25 controls on it. Fun?

Uh, no.

You can't even do anything graphically extreme on the iPod or iPad. They can't do much. MAYBE the Zune HD could but still it's not big enough of a screen.

you guys sure aren't imaginative.
Sure, it costs a crapload to make App's for the Mac. But remember, this isn't Nintendo. I mean, you could have something like on the mac where the figure grows bigger whilst dragging your finger over it. Or, you could have a game related to blockland, like The Blockland, the epic Side Scrolling Platformer that pits you against epic enemies!

no! There could be a bar at the bottom with options for building (or starting a dm)

Okay, let's get this straight.

  • The touchscreen is basically the only controls that the user has.
  • To specifically push one point on a touchscreen is pretty difficult for many users with big hands.
  • iPods and iPhones don't have that much processing power, because they're loving PHONES.
  • Playing Blockland would stress the processors and drain the battery if it isn't plugged in.
  • The touchscreen is too small.

Basically it won't work because it's a loving touchscreen which would suck at games like Blockland and it doesn't even have the power to do that.

Imbecile. The only conceivable way I could see this working is you place blocks from a fixed, perhaps top-down or isometric viewpoint and then you could see your creation from different angles. It would be impossible to implement Blockland in any form that we know it onto the iPhone. The iPad? Maybe, but I highly doubt it.

Imbecile? Seriosly? That's a bit harsh for an idea that I had.

No, you're an imbecile for continuing to support it after people gave you valid reasons why your idea is foolish.

Incase you haven't noticed, there are far more complicated apps than the one that I'm proposing.

Nope, this is pretty damn complicated.

The iPhone 3Gs does not meet the minimum requirements to run Blockland, which is pretty damn amazing considering how easy Blockland is to run. Blockland requires an 800MHz processor. The iPhone 3Gs has an 833MHz processor downclocked to 600MHz for battery optimization. Blockland requires 512MB of RAM, the iPhone 3Gs has half of that, at 256MB.

So even Blockland running at its lowest settings with no bricks in the picture (figuratively speaking) would be too much for the iPhone. The iPad's processor could handle it, but it still only meets the MINIMUM RAM requirements.

So basically, Mr. Hartman would have to severely mangle Blockland to get it to run on an iPhone, then he would have to buy Torque 3D for the iPhone and rewrite, ney, completely re-imagine Blockland for an iPhone. What would come out the other end would be COMPLETELY different than the Blockland we know on the PC.

I'm not suggesting mangled blockland, just watered down a little to work on the iPhone ipad or iPod touch. Maybe it would take out some features, but it could still be blockland.

NO IT COULDN'T.

I just gave you a wall of text why what you JUST SAID is completely false.

You know what? Screw this. I'm done.

No, I change my mind. I posted an entire topic on why it could work.
