Author Topic: IPv4 Changes Randomly  (Read 3045 times)

I was hosting a server today when my friend said he could not connect to it over IRC, strangly others were connect, it will see strange nce I get further into the problem. I opened up command prompt, typed in ipconfig, and hit enter. I had forwarded my ports to 192.168.1.100, but today my IPv4 had changed to 192.168.1.103 on it's own :/ I checked recently right now and it has changed again to 192.168.1.102(preferred). Any idea what could be causing this, or is it normal to do this?

Check your DHCP lease time. Should be forever.

Static IP? Also this should be in help, I belive.

itt: The OP's IP address.

Last time I checked, we're all still using IPv4

comcast here like restarts my loving modem twice a week at random. its very annoying.
and it resets my ip every time, and makes me have to go adjust my ports every time as it causes my lan user number to change.

There are some IPv6 web addresses though, aren't there?

Only in private networks.

My Internet Connection type is not Static IP, it uses PPPoE, since that is what my DSL Modem uses.

I wouldn't know then, I don't use PPPoE so I wouldn't know how to fix it. I'll still see if there's anything I can do.

This means your LAN IP changes every minute. Are you able to change this to the maximum time possible?

The most I can put in is 9999. Would that work?

Yes, but expect your LAN IP to change every 27.3 years.

Ok, thanks. Locking topic.

I just checked my IPv4 Address, it is now 192.168.1.101 :/ My Client Lease Time is still [9999] (9,999 minutes). Anything else I could try, or should I just live with this like Bisjac?
