Author Topic: Ask a loving Librarian  (Read 3676 times)

A website to supposedly help me with my loving paper is now making me bash my head in. Chat log:
Quote
Chat Transcript: How did foreign citizens feel about WW2 troops?
Librarian: Librarian 'Andrew (24/7 Librarian)' has joined the session.
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): Librarian 'Nikki (24/7 Librarian)' has joined the session.
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): hello
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): My name is Nikki, and I'm a reference librarian with the QuestionPoint chat service. Your librarians have asked our librarians to staff this 24-hour service when they are unavailable. I'm reading your question right now to see how I can help you...
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): what foreign citizens are you speaking of?
Kevin: Any in European countries being fought over in WW2
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): that would depend on how they felt about the war
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): were they pro german
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): or anti german
Kevin: Either, I'm determining which was a more popular opinion
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): and which troops do you mean
Kevin: American
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): because in every country there would be their own troops and those of the opposing side
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): that probably depends on the country
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): or the person within the country
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): can you tell me more about your project?
Kevin: How about an American soldier interacting with citizens in Italy
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): during World War II Italy was an opponent of the US
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): so that may have impacted the feelings of the people of the country
Kevin: Yes and the citizens inside it must have certain attitudes towards American troops
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): are you looking for articles for a paper
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): what school are you at
Kevin: This is an I-search. I choose, "How did foreign citizens feel about American troops in their countries."
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): are you supposed to find sources
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): or to reflect
Kevin: Find sources, two websites and two books
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): this was a topic that your teacher offered you?
Kevin: We had to narrow down to a topic, we as well have to do an interview. This seemed to be a simple enough topic
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): the thing is is it is not very specific
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): and could require journal articles
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): are you at a college?
Kevin: No, middle school
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): this is not the easiest topic to research
Kevin: And I can't change it so I'm stuck
Nikki (24/7 Librarian): do you want to specify a particular country
Newest Message
Kevin: Italy seems to be a good place to start

The Italians were happy when the American troops came in because Benito Blue Meanie was removed from power and his army/police was crushed. Intereaction between Soldiers and Italians would probably be a brief since they were usually guarding water and food.
