Author Topic: BSODing on Startup (Read 2271 times)

I turned on my computer a couple minutes ago and I got a Blue Screen of Death, I tried all of the possible ways to restart. (safe mode, last known good configuration) It doesn't fix. I'm on an XP with service pack 3. Does anyone know a fix for this?

Well, what does the BSOD say?

Does the BSOD say anything that may help tell what the problem is?

Use the installation disk you were given with your OS to repair it.

This. It sounds as if some core files were corrupted.

Really odd, I've never had that problem before.
Radial's fix should fix it, however.

Yay, I've had this before twice and reformatted, I had the CD yet, in the present time I'm so unorginized I can't findit or I don't know what it looks like, I have 2 discs at the moment that Iieasilly found, yet I don't know which is the Windows CD Rom. One says:

APPLICATION

FOR REINSTALLING DELL TOOLS SYSTEM SOFTWARE

Contents:
-Antivirus software
-Support software
-Multimeda software
-Internet software

The other on is:

DRIVERS AND UTILITIES

Dell Dimension ResourceCD

Might be neither, I might have to look around more.

Heh, if you have had this problem before, why are you posting here? From the look of those disks, I don't think that either of them is the correct candidate.

Nope, both those CD's won't have the Windows Setup files.

Most computers have a little sticker on the side with the product key for Windows, especially prebuilts. Also, I heard you can get a free CD from Microsoft, as you can't do anything with it unless you have the key.

Uh oh, on step 3, I'm confused, when I press R it brings me to the console yet how do I select the Windows Installation?
