And they still have higher taxes than everyone else. We might as well scale taxes with income so everyone ends up with the same disposable income. Go communism/socialism.
Uh, it's a good thing to tax a higher percentage of the income of people who make more money. Think about it like this: if a man makes $40,000 a year and pays a 25% tax rate, he only has $30,000 dollars to spend on the necessities of living, and $30,000 annually is hardly enough. If a man is making $400,000 a year and has the same tax rate, he has $300,000 of spending money which is more than what he needs, so he is fine. The only fair way to deal with this is to reduce the taxes for people who make less money. Unfortunately this causes the government to make a lot less money, so they need to be offset by a tax on the rich. Even though the rich are a tiny minority, the extra income by an increased tax rate generates more than enough to fix the deficit caused by the previously mentioned lower tax rates.
And this isn't communism / socialism, it's a progressive tax system which America has had for years during the height of the Cold War. You know, the time when the evil commies were the worst of the worst enemies of the United States.
