UPDATE:

P CMC!

We have successfully obtained 11 artists. Sorry for those of you who didn't make it or were unable to make it due to problems, however, I say good luck to you next time. If this is successful as I hope it shall be, then there will be a Open Comics Volume 2, 3, 4 etc, depending on popularity.

So don't worry, you'll get another shot!

In the meantime, you'll notice that we've started our first collaborative effort, and that is designing a logo. Note to artists, once your letter is finished, post them and I'll order them, then later they'll be used as one image to represent the book when it is finished.

Are you a bleeding heart and or artist? Then congratulations! We want you!

Once upon a time, two of the forum's most renounced artists decided to call upon the other renounced artists to get together to make something epic. It became: Open Comic Book Casting Call.

Open Comic Book Casting Call, or OCBCC for short, is a project designed to self publish a graphic novel made by us, the artists of the Blockland Forums. The basic premise is simple, and done before, but it could very well be worth it. Once enough artists have been collected, we'll all meet and sketch a rough story plot together, then draw numbers. The person who gets number 1 starts the story with a page or so. When they're done, artist 2 takes over and draws the next few pages, and so on and so on.

The plot is the only thing concrete, the rest is up to the artist with control of the pages. For instance, if one artist introduces a new character, the next one has now that character to use, or that setting, or whatever. It's all up to who controls the story at one point.

If you're interesting in this self published endeavor, then post something to show us your artistic skill, as well as something that shows your ability to tell a story, or even just the ability to improvise.

All rules such as time limits or page limits and story will be fleshed out when we have accumulated enough artists.

For any questions or ideas, contact myself or Worm, for we are the curators of this event.

Good luck with the "audition" fellows!

Dammit, I wish I had a scanner or something to show my silly arts. I've always wanted to do something like this but I can't post stuff now :( Also, what the hell is that thing in the second panel?

edit: I have a little somethin-somethin. It's kind of old and I've gotten somehwat better since then, but here ya go. I could prolly ask my friend Emily to upload something to deviant art for me and let me post it here.

The thing in the second panel is what I always imagined Worm to look like in an intense situation.

Seriously.

I have a scanner, but I left the install disc back in south Florida.
No drawings from me.

I'd like to help out C:

I have illustrator cs4, and it's real easy to use. So I can surely give you guys a hand.

Then send me some art, man!

Speaking of which, someone needs to teach me how to properly use that stuff. I mean, Flash CS4 can only get me so far.

So what does Scottman think of my comic example?

It was kinda weird to be honest?

I assume it's a bit old. So, show something a tad more... recent.

i'll join in

incidentally i make a BUNCH of comics at school since i frequently have nothing to do, and should dump them here shortly

I've been stuck in sleeping bags many a time. Anyways, I'll try and get a camera or something and take pictures of some of my doodles I guess or make a small comic. I'm not doing anything now anyways.

edit: So how many people would get in on this? I'd really like to if I could :o

Well, hopefully several. Or at least, enough to make it so working on a few pages at time is ok as the artist will be giving it to the next soon, so he doesn't have the tedious process of drawing the whole thing.

If I do get in, the thing I can't do is scan currently nor could I ink. I could never ink things before. I'm asking for a tablet for my birthday which is May 7th.

Well, it's going to take a bit of time before we get everyone gathered, however, we'll keep you on standby. Show me some new stuff first, though.

MUST. FIND. CAMERA. DAMMIT.

Wait, you got MSN? I have a webcam and I could show you some stuff because I'm too lazy to trek for a camera that's probably been borrowed or given away .-.
