Author Topic: Juyst bought a venus fly trap :D  (Read 3073 times)

That sounds awesome!

I keep a whole green house of carnivores plants.

Don't give them any tap water, it has to be rain water, or distilled water (Which Can be bought in stores)

And put the water in a plate and put the pot on the plate.

This time of year they should be sprouting a flower stalk, don't let it flower, cut it off while it's just a long stick, and replant that. If you do it right, mini vft's should grow around the stalk. Pm me for more tips.
Pitcher plants are cooler.

ninja: And don't feed them any food, only bugs, and no beetles. They don't need bugs to survive, anyway.
I have mini pitcher plants :D

And you could have bought one from me, for 8$ and would arrive in 3 days.

careful playing with it. when one of the mouths closes up to like 4-6 times it dies, or at least to often.
dont wanna kill them all off to fast.

but they shouldn't have access to eating bugs, dont they usually come in those little dome bowls, because they live better in more moisture.

See how long you can hold your finger inside the fly traps closed mouth.
I've been to botanical gardens and seen carnivorous plants. Their digestive acids are only harmful to insects.

You loving lie.

I have a Fly trap in my Apartment

I held my finger in its closed mouth for about a minute, and it burned, and i came out with a few tiny holes in my finger.

Well, I don't remember that part. I guessed it. But the rest is true.

No. If you hold it in it long enough then it will sting, like if you were holding a chilly pepper, but obviously, it's not likely to get on you, because fly traps need constant movement inside the trap, for it to trigger the liquid.

That's not necessary. Only if they're seeds, they should be fine out in the open, I actually had my plants die by keeping them in there. Just make sure to keep the tray they're on wet (For example, get a plate, pour water in it, and set pot on it)

Edit:
Also, if you keep it alive long enough, it should "Die" During winter, don't throw it away, that's natural, it should do that.

They arn't that exciting. They really do nothing...
I know i got them cause there are little nat thingys everywhere in my room.

You loving lie.

There already kind of big i bought them pre-grown so they could kill right away so i wouldn't have to wait a year. I heard it takes like theree years for them to grow fully.

The plant itself isn't actually thinking to do what it does, the Cells of it only swell in a certain way making the plant shut, then flooding the bug with acid.

I don't care i just want it to kill the little annoying nats.
