Author Topic: Got an ancient laptop; need help  (Read 1110 times)

I just managed to get a free, ancient Windows XP laptop, but I'm having problems with it. First, the screen's backlight is gone. I also think the battery is faulty. But the main issue is that when I turned it on for the second time, it was stuck on the "Welcome" opening message for a long time. You can't see what's on the screen because of how dim it is, and the camera's flash.

Help?

I use to have one like that.

Also dust it out.

Okay, new question. How do I hook it up to a new screen?

You need to plug a moniter into the moniter jack, on an old comp like that probably a blue upside down almost triange shaped jack.

Uh, I tried that. Any other ideas?

Recycle it. Just don't even bother trying to get that... walking corpse... alive.

Are you kidding me, you think that's old?

I have a smith carona laptop.

My mom used to have an ancient laptop like that. But when she stopped working for her company (Due to Lyme disease) She had to give it back. I wish I woulda got it.

put some linux on that

Hey, I got the screen to work. Yay

I un-hibernated it with the screen plugged in. Now it won't be able to move because of the ancient heavy-weight box called a screen that's attached.
