I can only repeat it. It has nothing to do with the model, Torque renders both sides of faces. And you don't have to show me how I modeled it - I made it, I actually know it.

Backfaces are lit negatively compared to normal faces. A backface facing the sun is like opposite of a normal face facing the sun. It only renders both sides because you have double sided turned on under the mesh options. Torque renders both sides of faces but renders them differently.
