but you do not own any copyrights for a build, they are the likeness and property of badspot. everyone has the rights to what you publicly display.
you do not need credit, screw your pride.

I don't get this. People say build stealing is ok, but when someone steals an add-on, or a part of it, they make them walk the plank. What is the loving difference?

It's harder to make an addon.

there isn't a difference.

just whiners that want glory and fame in a community where its not needed.

If someone saves your build it means they like it.
You should be flattered.

No. A build can have just as much work put into it as an add-on. Maybe even more.

Players make builds.
Players make add-ons.

Players release builds.
Players release add-ons.

People have no reason to flip out over add-ons being stolen, and then tell someone, "Who cares?" for a build being stolen. A build being stolen, is just as bad as an add-on being stolen. If someone got their hands on an add-on, and claimed credit for it, then obviously someone released it to them, which is practically the same thing as hosting a build. According to most of the members here, giving that person the OK to steal it.

pfft, Way back when everyone hated build stealing now that there are 10,000 new people who joine within the last year and a half its ok to everyone.. Doesnt really have much to do with it though I still think claiming credit for another persons work is not something we should be ok about? If you bought a car with hard earned money and some idoit stole it, it's not  ok just because you drove your car around for people to see.

Intellectual properties are different than material goods.

Also, I wonder if someone could copyright a script and have it be valid. Though it'd be impossable to enforce.

Well, its not impossible although its very unlikely the goverment would except it as a copyright thing. Intelectual or not har dwork is the same and people who go around stealing because their to lazy or are just plain noobies, is just as annoying sometimes because you put your work in to getting or making something nice and they steal it in one day just by seeing it and clicking a button

People steal every day. Stop whining.
Although I see absolutely no harm in adding a server-side
feature of which is required to be enabled in order for
non-administrative clients to save the contents of the server.

However, I can see multiple reasons why Badspot would not
allow this. For one, it's way too much work. The largest of the
issues is probably the odds of 'Losing' your build. If you build in
a server for instance, and the server begins to LAG as if it
were crashing, your primary instinct would be to save the build
so you can either continue it later or reload in case the server
crashes. Saving / Loading passwords or Permission settings
would dramatically decrease the odds of a successful backup
save. If you've ever been on a clan project server, you'd
understand my position.

Which brings up a Copyright Script.
That's why Badspot added loading with Brick Ownership,
and the Description box. You can't prevent it from being
stolen. All you can do is either not care, have witnesses,
or generate some sort of a scripted brick that crashes
any clients other than the server itself who try to load.

This can be done with events, I assume. However, the
likely-hood of this being LEGAL (Blockland / Eric-wise, not
governmental) is questionable.

you could try. but badspot has instant ownership of anything made with or for blockland.
if he wants he could put in a watermark on all your saves claiming they belong to him, and you can do nothing.

The only reason I am making such a big deal is because it wa s wip build I had never hosted so he COULD just say it was his and no one would believe me. If I had been hosting for a reasonable amount of time with my build it wouldnt be a problem. Although  I suppose I should have put a password. Infact I did after the person left, although it's all been cleared up.

The text in the script though, no where does that even use the word 'blockland'.

well obviously doing that would mean changing some script somewhere.
jesus christ you kids are dumb
