Author Topic: MilkShape Collision Mesh  (Read 3410 times)

I followed these steps, and received the error: "Assertation failed: too many details for mesh"  All I made for the collision mesh is a simple slightly extruded box.

For MS3D

1. Create a Box

2. Name it:  collision-1

3. Export using TGE Plus, then click "Create Bounds", after that, click "Apply"

4. Export

Edit: Not sure if this has to do with the collision, but I have never had this error before until I made a vehicle with collision.

Also it creates a "bounds" group, and a "root" joint after I follow the above instructions and receive the error...Anyone know why?  Or what they're for?

Make sure the box is convex not concave. Don't use Create Bounds in TGE Plus, who ever said that is a handicap and needs to be shot. Bounds is the yellow box around the vehicle in Mission Editor, you can create your own bounds or let TGE Plus do it automatically when you export. If you want to make your own bounds just make a box around your model and name the mesh bounds with no LOD or anything.

Make sure the box is convex not concave.
How would I do this?

Understand, if not Google it.

Alright, well even with just a rectangle for collision I am still receiving the error. =|

Stop stealing stuff from turbosquid and you won't get errors about your models being too detailed.

I don't know what that is and I don't steal models.  I found it was because I had the LOD too high, starfish.

Anyways, new problem:  Blockland crashes when I spawn my vehicle.

Does it also crash when you spawn it with the mission editor?
Also, turbosquid is an site where you can get free models, or sell/buy models.

No, I am spawning it in-game, and it crashes instantly after selecting the vehicle then trying to spawn it on a vehicle brick.

Show us a picture of it in Milkshape, and a picture of the groups tab, all the LODS bust be at 16 (Except for the collision mesh, of course).

All LOD is supposed to be at 0, that's what Pandan's MS tutorial said.  Besides LOD 0 works fine for me with weapons....or are vehicles all that different?  LOD needs to be 16 for vehicles only?

Edit: Here's a picture...

Please help...anyone. :(

Over poly and has no collision mesh.

Over poly and has no collision mesh.
It does have a collision mesh, it's just hidden.
And it doesn't crash because of "over poly".
