Also, his nose would grow and retract in an infinite loop so fast that you would see it in it's extended position. This loop would be done so fast you wouldn't be able to tell it's moving, and it would act as a solid at it's longest point despite the fact it does not occupy that space always. Actually, if you think about it, you get this:
First comes the predecessor to a chicken. Even if it lays eggs, the thing that comes from the egg is not a chicken.
This pre-chicken lays an egg, which will become the new species due to a genetic mutation.
Now, a real chicken is born from an egg laid by a non-chicken.
Now this chicken is free to lay eggs and keep the species alive.
