It's a simple fact they are the most powerful. Saying that there's a small chance they'll lose a straight up war between nations (it obviously can't handle insurgencies considering its very presence creates them) is like saying there's a small chance I can fall through the floor. Yeah, quantum mechanics technically allows it to happen, but there is nothing explicitly saying it will.
The way I'm seeing things is:
Jess = dumb bitch who thinks her opinion is relevant
Apthonites = butthurt Brit who thinks slight possibilities are relevant
