Author Topic: Rules of Servers  (Read 1308 times)

I know people go on a lot of servers with a lot of rules that applies for that server.
Ive seen people who freak when something is done wrong, yet they think its fine. For example, My server, I don't much allow any spam, of any kind, As in, 1x1 wall, or 1x1x5 red ranbow undolo blinking beeping projectile shooting explosive bricks. (Got to carried away there..) And when that happens. And I delete that, they go and say this, Most exacly. "Its on a baseplate, so its not spam"

Now like my Spam Forum Post
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=102332.0
This shows that my server doesn't apply to most other servers.
The main concept of this post is, for people who think every server on Blockland has the same rules, Well, Your wrong. There's a lot of different rules applied for servers.
So if you go to another server, ask what the rules are, check the rule post/message, see what others are doing to apply to the rules.
I hope this post will help cure annoyance in the future.

Although every server has different rules, it depends if, how, and which rules are enforced.

there aren't many rules. if you just keep your nose out of other peoples business and don't act out, you'll be fine in most servers.

If I get a new person join my server, and he breaks rules (Even if they're really common ones that are on most servers) I remind the person that he's breaking rules and not to do it again. That way I try to ensure that people don't go being a nuisance on the server, nor do they get in trouble for not knowing a rule and accidently breaking it.

And usually, If I'm Afk or whatever, my Admins tend to remind rules first before taking any action, and other server members are quite friendly enough to remind the person not to break the rules. I don't have many Bans on my server because of this.

(Ahead of this post) Well, Thats good. But as I say, some servers have different rules, I most likely ban the fellow. or a simple Kick. Maybe a warning if its not that much of a trouble.

If someone perma's your for breaking a minor rule, that server is bad.

Yes,  That is. Or the person who banned you is a badmin. Ive been to servers with nice host, and badmins, and nice admins, and badhost.

Since many people know I host my jailRP, I would usually enforce the normal rules as a jailRP should have. Other than that, I usually keep votekick around to tend with people that I want the public to decide. I usually turn off my AFK kicker to make sure that people dead don't get kicked. I once had the rules add-on but then turned off after it was an annoyance.

I always try to make the best time for people with pretty good, non-abusive admins. Although, it's very hard to make some choices on banning. Otherwise, some abuse is thrown in there along with a good time.

It's because serves don't explain there rules very good. Is spam chat spam? Is it a build made with small bricks? Is it random bricks?
It's important that you explain it when posting your rules.

I always found problems with rules being explained. Sometimes even I don't know what to do for certain situations. I try to use simple rules that don't have any exceptions or loopholes.

Want someone to listen? Make a fancy OP.

I guess one of the best things for people to doo along side this, is to promote the concept of players in the servers asking. You should make it clear that if you're not sure on the rules or something, that they should ask. That, and being a patient Host/Admin helps a lot.

I think strict rules are mostly for people who want power.
