LaVeyan Satanism.
Not really, but I guess you could stretch that.

I think he was stating his opinion and he struck a nerve with a certain somebody.
Correct.

And @Ike:
If you're an atheist, my statement should have absolutely no offensive value to you whatsoever.

Me and what I think of how religion is

Quote from:  The Bible
If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey his father and mother, who does not heed them when they discipline him, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his town at the gate of that place. They shall say to the elders of his town, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of the town shall stone him to death. So you shall purge the evil from your midst; and all Israel will hear, and be afraid.

I mean, this is scary. Why do people follow this stuff.

However, not all religion is bad. Quakers and Unitarians are a good example of religions. They don't focus on killing people or excluding them.

1. Be Atheist
2. Throw out your "Bible"
3. Lie in bed
4. ???
5. Profit God's Lighting strike

Because the worst part of religion is when we don't let people play in our volleyball tournaments.  :cookieMonster:

But I agree, the Bible, at many points, can be a very morbid book. Once again, I think it's about interpretation. It may have been written literally, I'm unsure, I wasn't there, but I just don't accept in my faith that I would have to stone everyone who doesn't agree with me.

And the Quakers are cool. <3 They make good oats, too. :D!

What if the Bible was once 2 Books. One was a Children's Book and one was an adult's book

I know, for a fact, if you say that to a Quaker's face, they may actually lose their temper. They really don't like that guy who named it after them. Oh, and they were sometimes burned alive because they were thought to be witches. Yay religion

Why were they thought to be witches? :o

Why were they thought to be witches? :o
Because they sometimes dressed funny and didn't do what everyone else did religiously. So that was an excuse to brutally murder them.

You know that the quote you supplied was denoted in the Old Testimate of the Bible for the Isrealites. Laws like that no longer apply for people today.

My own view on Religion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk6ILZAaAMI
Prayer is more so about making a connection to God, if you believe in him/her, then asking God for inane things like money or a new car. It is, in my opinion, a synonymous term for meditation, though others interpret it differently. In other words, prayer is more about experiencing spirituality and seeking hope, truth, and faith.

Poor Friends. D: It's so very sad when people are discriminated for any reason. :c

Then why does the creation story apply?

Oh right, because you still hold the Old Testament in high regard and saying laws from it don't apply is an attempt in making people see you as more moral.

Basically, there is Christian, then there is Modern Christian... Stupidest thing I have ever heard, a religion changed it's views to fit modern times.
