The big bang theory is that a large abundance of energy exploaded, creating everything (Something which I, personally, sounds ridiculous). The Bible says that God is full of energy, and therefore the belief that he is all there was before the universe makes perfect sense to me.
It probably sounds ridiculous because you don't know how it works.
Well we know at the end of a stars life, it will explode. It's a fact that this happens, it occurs all the time. So it happening at the big bang is entirely within reason, as it would likely involve the same principals, only on a MUCH larger scale.
And for the "creating everything", there wasn't just an explosion, then all of a sudden planets and stars sitting there. The galaxies, stars, solar systems, and planets are all the result of 13 billion years of matter gravitating towards other matter and collecting. When masses of matter get large enough, they form planets or stars.
This is just a VERY brief explanation, but it can all be explained. We know how the cosmos were formed, just not how it began, YET. Though it could be an infinite cycle. Big Bang>Big Crunch>Big Bang>Big Crunch.
The whole god thing sounds ridiculous to anyone with common sense. A floating wizard pulsating with energy, that has always existed somewhere? What? What created him?
At least the Big Bang theory has some reasoning behind it.
